Inpainting-Based Video Compression in FullHD

چکیده
Compression methods based on inpainting are an evolving alternative to classical transform-based codecs for still images. Attempts apply these ideas video compression rare, since reaching real-time performance is very challenging. Therefore, current approaches focus simplified frame-by-frame reconstructions that ignore temporal redundancies. As a remedy, we propose highly efficient, capable prediction and correction approach fully relies partial differential equations (PDEs) in all steps of the codec: Dense variational optic flow fields yield accurate motion-compensated predictions, while homogeneous diffusion applied intra prediction. To compress residuals, introduce new efficient block-based variant pseudodifferential inpainting. Our novel architecture outperforms other inpainting-based terms both quality speed. For first time compression, can decompress FullHD (1080p) videos with CPU-based implementation, outperforming previous by roughly one order magnitude.

Video Subject Inpainting: A Posture-Based Method
Despite recent advances in video inpainting techniques, reconstructing large missing regions of a moving subject while its scale changes remains an elusive goal. In this paper, we have introduced a scale-change invariant method for large missing regions to tackle this problem. Using this framework, first the moving foreground is separated from the background and its scale is equalized. Then, a ...
متن کاملInpainting - Based Image Compression
Inpainting-based image compression is an emerging paradigm for compressing visual data in a completely different way than popular transform-based methods such as JPEG. The underlying idea sounds very simple: One stores only a small, carefully selected subset of the data, which results in a substantial reduction of the file size. In the decoding phase, one interpolates the missing data by means ...

متن کاملBandlet-based sparsity regularization in video inpainting
We present a bandlet-based framework for video inpainting in order to complete missing parts of a video sequence. The framework applies spatio-temporal geometric flows extracted by bandlets to reconstruct the missing data. First, a priority-based exemplar scheme enhanced by a bandlet-based patch fusion generates a preliminary inpainting result. Then, the inpainting task is completed by a 3D vol...
